THE CENTER FOR CROSS-CULTURAL HEALTH

ABOUT US

What is the Center for Cross-Cultural Health?

The Center for Cross-Cultural Health (CCCH) is an independent non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.  The mission of the CCCH 'to integrate cultural competency into health and human services through information, training, research, and consulting.'  Our vision is better health for all through cross-cultural understanding.

In order to achieve this goal, the CCCH has been actively involved in the education, consultation, assessment, and training of providers, educators, and organizations in the State of Minnesota and beyond since 1997.  The CCCH also serves as an information resource by offering publications, referrals, newsletters and networking opportunities.  Through these services the CCCH works towards developing culturally competent individuals, organizations, systems, and societies.

Why is the CCCH needed?

In recent years Minnesota has experienced a dramatic growth in immigration, as well as a marked increase in minority populations.  Providers, educators, and agencies in Minnesota are now working with patients, clients, students, and co-workers whose ethnicity, language, religion, and cultural beliefs may be vastly different from their own.  These cultural beliefs and values have profound implications for the efficiency and effectiveness of services and resources.
